Parents, the Morgan Hill Fire Department and Police Department insist that the fire lane in front of the school remains accessible to emergency vehicles at all times. We had some issue with this during Back-to-School Night, and want to ensure the safety of all students by keeping the fire lane clear from now on.
However, we know that traffic during drop-off and pick-up times is unusually busy, so we will continue to use the fire lane to allow 2 lanes of traffic in the front loop. You can help us to maintain this option by pulling as far forward as possible when dropping off or picking up your student, by remaining in a single lane whenever possible, and by remaining in your vehicle at all times when in the fire lane. Please yield to any/all emergency vehicles immediately.
You can also help by dropping off your student 10 minutes early to avoid traffic congestion (for example, there are very few cars here at 7:55am or 8:00am). In the afternoon, you can avoid the long pick-up line by waiting just a few minutes after the release bell to pick up your student (for example 3:20pm or 3:25pm).
Finally, please remind your student to use the sidewalks and crosswalk when moving between your vehicle and school campus. Crossing between cars changing lanes can be very dangerous!
We appreciate your cooperation in assuring a safe campus for all Live Oak Students.
